Life after deployment can be difficult to manage, especially for veterans who have been through a traumatic experience while serving our country. The risks of addiction and alcoholism as well as mental illness increase greatly for veterans due to these negative experiences during their time in the military. Sometimes it’s the challenging transition into civilian life that can impact them. According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse “More than one in ten veterans have been diagnosed with a substance use disorder. Today we will discuss the truth about addiction in veterans and how we can help our veteran community.
